چکیده
The extensive injury caused to buildings by liquefaction during past earthquakes, with the uneven spatial distribution of damage, raises need for rapid predictive tools, applicable at a large scale, that comprehensively account properties earthquake, subsoil and structure. A method is herein proposed quantify angular distortion framed low-rise based on simple characterization above factors. analysis moves from literature criteria introduced vulnerability under static conditions extends their applicability assessment integrating parametric two-dimensional numerical analyses recent formulas machine learning inference. calculation, performed variable stratigraphic mechanical characteristics subsoil, ground motion equivalent flexural stiffness foundation, quantifies role each factor absolute settlement distortion. Then dependency different factors inferred an artificial neural network, grouping parameters limit number input variables express results charts make prediction more accessible.

Uplifting Behavior of Shallow Buried Pipe in Liquefiable Soil by Dynamic Centrifuge Test
Underground pipelines are widely applied in the so-called lifeline engineerings. It shows according to seismic surveys that the damage from soil liquefaction to underground pipelines was the most serious, whose failures were mainly in the form of pipeline uplifting. In the present study, dynamic centrifuge model tests were conducted to study the uplifting behaviors of shallow-buried pipeline su...
متن کاملVariables Characteristics Effects on Static and Pseudo-Static Reliability-Based Design of near Slope Shallow Foundations
Given the concept of reliability-based design (RBD) and the growing risk management trend in geotechnical engineering, proper understanding and quantification of uncertainties are very important. The complexity of methods and a large volume of calculations of probabilistic design methods are the most critical reasons for civil engineers not to be comfortable using these approaches. In this rese...
متن کاملThe Effect of Spatial Variability and Anisotropy of Soils on Bearing Capacity of Shallow Foundations
Naturally occurred soil deposits inherit heterogeneity and anisotropy in their strength properties. The main purpose of this paper is to model the soil stratum with anisotropy consideration and spatially varying undrained shear strength by using random field theory coupled with finite difference numerical analysis to evaluate their effect on the bearing capacity of the shallow foundations. In t...
متن کاملUse of Minimax Probability Machine Regression for Modelling of Settlement of Shallow Foundations on Cohesionless Soil
This article examines the performance of Minimax Probability Machine Regression (MPMR) for prediction of settlement(s) of shallow foundation on cohesionless soil. MPMR maximizes the minimum probability that future predicted outputs of the regression model will be within some bound of the true regression function. Width of footing (B), net applied pressure (q), average Standard Penetration Test ...
